Shape and Motion from Linear Features

چکیده
This paper introduces a technique for extracting structure and motion using directionally selective matches between linear features. A world-centered coordinate system is used to make these computations without the intermediate calculation of depth. In order to constrain the possible structure and motion conngurations, we assume that the three-dimensional direction of gravity relative to each image frame is known. The direction of gravity, along with the directionally selective linear feature matches, form a set of quadratic equations which can be used to determine structure and motion.

A study on the use of perturbation technique for analyzing the nonlinear forced response of piezoelectric microcantilevers
In this paper, a comparison is made between direct and indirect perturbation approaches to solve the non-linear vibration equations of a piezoelectrically actuated cantilever microbeam. In this comparison, the equation of motion is considered according to Euler-Bernoulli theory with considering the non-linear geometric and inertia terms resulted from shortening effect. In the direct perturbatio...
متن کاملDerivation of Equation of Motion for the Pillow-Shape Seismic Base Isolation System
Rolling-based seismic isolation systems, in which rollers of circular or non-circular section are used, are less expensive and easier to manufacture. However, this type of isolation suffers from either lack of restoring or re-centering capability, or weakness against uplift forces. To resolve the first shortcoming the use of elliptical as well as pillow-shape rolling parts has been suggested, a...
متن کاملNon-rigid structure from motion using ranklet-based tracking and non-linear optimization
In this paper, we address the problem of estimating the 3D structure and motion of a deformable object given a set of image features tracked automatically throughout a video sequence. Our contributions are twofold: firstly, we propose a new approach to improve motion and structure estimates using a non-linear optimization scheme and secondly we propose a tracking algorithm based on ranklets, a ...
متن کاملFactorization methods for structure from motion
In this article we present an overview of factorization methods for recovering structure and motion from image sequences. We distinguish these methods from general non-linear algorithms primarily by their bilinear formulation in motion and shape parameters. The bilinear formulation makes possible powerful and e cient solution techniques including Singular Value Decomposition. We show how factor...
متن کاملRecovering 3D shape and motion from image streams using nonlinear least squares
The simultaneous recovery of 3D shape and motion from image sequences is one of the more difficult problems in computer vision. Classical approaches to the problem rely on using algebraic techniques to solve for these unknowns given two or more images. More recently, a batch analysis of image streams (the temporal tracks of distinguishable image features) under orthography has resulted in highl...
